The A To Z Guide To Moving House – Text Version

A is for…”Abroad”
And not just local moves!

B is for “Boxes”
You will probably need lots of these for packing before your move. We supply them from our branches across Devon and Cornwall. Take a look at our new box design.

C is for “Commercial Removals”
If your moving offices then consider using a removal company to reduce the disruption to your business.

D is for “Devon Move” of course!
What else could we have listed for “D”?! (Well, maybe Dainton Self Storage).

E is for “EPCs” or “ Energy Performance Certificates”
Part of the Home Information Packs since 2007 despite some criticism for being poor quality, these examine things like loft insulation, boiler efficiency and double-glazing.

F is for “Furniture”
Often big, heavy and difficult to move, when it comes to moving and storing furniture you’ll be glad you employed a removal company.

G is for “Getting a mortgage”
Unless your lottery numbers come up, this is something that most of us have to do unfortunately.

H is for “Heathfield”
Near Newton Abbot and where our Head Office is.

I is for “Insurance”
Reputable removal companies will provide insurance to cover your goods during transit. If in doubt, ask and make sure the removal company provides sufficient cover for your belongings.

J is for “Job”
Big or small, we move it all!

K is for “Kingsteignton”
Where Devon Move were originally based, many years ago.

L is for “Lorries”
Without them a removal job would be pretty difficult!

M is for “Many hands make light work”
Whether you employ a removal company to do the lifting and shifting or hire a van yourself, having a few extra hands can make the job a lot easier.

N is for “New address”
Don’t forget to tell people! We’ve compiled a handy removal guide to help you.

O is for “Offer”
Let’s hope its accepted!

P is for “Packing”
We have plenty of tips for packing before a move, such as labelling the box with which room it should be placed in and making sure you know where the tea and coffee is!

Q is for “Quotes”
Don’t be afraid to ask for a free removal quote or onsite visit when choosing a removal company. A reputable removal firm will agree to it and if the removal men are unhelpful at this stage, don’t count on them being reliable during the move itself!

R is for “Removals”
Well, this is an A to Z of removals…

S is for “Storage” (or possibly “Student Discounts”)
Make use of storage to free up space whilst you are selling your house or temporarily store your belongings during the move.

T is for “Trailers”
For when a lorry is too large. We have a mobile collection and storage trailer that we use to move your goods in and out of storage or you can hire yourself.

U is for “UK”
From Lands End to John o’ Groats, local or abroad, move the lot for not a lot with Devon Move!

V is for “Vans”
You can use the services of a removal company to move single items as well as full house contents. We have a Fiat Doblo van that is just right for a few boxes.

W is for “Water and Drainage Search”
A compulsory part of the HIPS pack.

X is for “xcited” in txt spk
Bet you wondered what we would put here. Could have been “xchange contracts”!

Y is for “Yawn”
If you get held up in a chain of buyers.

Z is for “Zzzz…”
Take a well deserved break after your move and enjoy your new property.
